500K+ Mobile Warehouse Robots to Report to Work by 2030

Order volumes are not backing off and labor continues to be MIA. As a result the warehouse automation explosion is expected to continue according to ABI Research. ABI predicts that worldwide mobile robot shipments in warehouses will have a CAGR of almost 40% from 2021 to 2030, exceeding 500,000 global shipments in 2030.

Robotics technology is also zooming ahead with such advances as headphone enabled voice picking and exoskeletons that reduce human effort to push even more the productivity solutions.

These findings are from ABI Research’s Smart Warehousing market data report, a part of the company’s Supply Chain Management and Logistics research service.

It’s not only the mobile robot market that is growing fast.  Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) are also explosive and the industry is set to be valued at over US$18 billion by 2030, with a year-over-year growth of 9% from 2021 to 2030. This category includes a variety of computer-controlled systems for automatically placing and retrieving loads from defined storage locations used for high load volume moved into and out of storage.
