Hyundai Mobis Expands Purpose-built at CES

by Carolyn Mathas

Hyundai Mobis will unveil a new convergence technology optimized for purpose-built vehicles (PBV) at CES 2023. Their CES theme, ‘Hi! For a Better Tomorrow!’ will be an intro to new PBV concept models “M.Vision TO” and “M.Vision HI” for the first time. ‘TO’ refers to going ‘toward’ the future, and ‘HI’ refers to ‘a humanity-oriented’ driving experience.

So, what is it? M.Vision TO is a self-driving vehicle based on an electrification system using cameras, radars, LiDARs, e-corner modules, and MR displays integrated into four pillars on the front and rear sides of the vehicle. Inside are PBV-grade seats that can be folded or rotated. The vehicle’s glass can be used as a large display screen for watching movies or online shopping.

The new technology uses advanced systems such as self-driving sensors, e-corner modules for independent driving and steering, and MR (mixed reality) displays in the vehicle’s frames. The company will also exhibit 19 of its newly developed, mass-producible mobility technologies at CES, including the future cock-pit integrated solution (MVICS 4.0), LED grille lighting, and hologram AR-HUD.
