U.S. Air Force Develops Free Blockchain Tool for Supply Chain Management

by Nicolette Emmino

The U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, with help from SecureMarketing and the University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business, has developed a free tool based on blockchain technology for supply chain management.

According to reports by News BTC, the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) has benefited from blockchain technology in terms of transparency within the supply chain. It assists with parts tracking capabilities across assembly in different regions.

While blockchain is more complex than other software options, it can result in cost savings long-term.

According to News BTC, the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) will incorporate tutorial videos. AFIT hopes that the tool will increase blockchain knowledge within the military.

One unique feature of the demonstration is its ability to track the entire lifecycle of a component.   This could be helpful when it comes to tracking hazmat material disposal and proper recycling methods.
